Announcing the 2016 Kids’ Lit Quiz Canada National Champions… University of Toronto Schools!

Congratulations to the UTS team, who won first place at last night’s National Final! As National Champions, UTS are invited to represent Canada at this year’s Kids’ Lit Quiz World Final, to be held in Auckland, New Zealand in August 2016. Many thanks to University of Toronto Schools who hosted last night’s event and were thrilled to see the UTS team achieve such great success on their home turf.

UTS accepts the title of Kids' Lit Quiz Canada National Champions, as well as some wonderful book prizes from Mabel's Fables.

Congratulations also to St Clement’s School Team 1 from Toronto who came in second, and Tecumseh Elementary School from Vancouver who took third place! The tournament saw a fantastic performance from all teams who attended, with plenty of suspense and some truly impressive kids’ lit knowledge being displayed (the audience didn’t do too badly, either!).

Huge thanks to international Quizmaster Wayne Mills and KLQ Canada Coordinator Nancy Davidson for their tireless work throughout the year, and to all our Kids’ Lit Quiz sponsors, volunteers and supporters for making this fantastic event possible!

Daniel from TVO Kids interviews KLQCA Quizzers from Cottingham Public School at the 2016 Toronto regional heat. The best thing about the Kids’ Lit Quiz, says Hannah (AKA Thing 1), is “a communal love of books.”

Check out the TVO Kids News website for four great interview clips from the Toronto regional KLQCA tournament!

It’s been truly heartening to see the enthusiasm of Canada’s young readers at the Kids' Lit Quiz Canada this year – we’re so proud of you all. We look forward to reporting more about UTS’ journey as Team Canada 2016!
